Participating in an SLT Production

What to Expect

Congratulations—you're cast! Now the real adventure begins. Here's everything you need to know about being part of an SLT production.

⸻
Rehearsal Schedule:
Building Something Amazing Together

Most productions rehearse for 6-8 weeks (plays typically 6 weeks, musicals 8 weeks). It's an intensive but incredibly rewarding process where you'll watch a script transform into a full production!

Typical Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday: 5:30-7:30pm

  • Occasional weekends: Some directors schedule Saturday or Sunday rehearsals, but you'll get a weekday off that same week to keep your total at 5 rehearsal days

  • Role-specific calls: Depending on your part, you may not be called to every rehearsal—we respect your time!

Check the Audition Notice for each show for specific potential rehearsal dates. Schedules may vary by director, so plan accordingly.

⸻
Conflicts:
Honesty is Everything

Life happens, and we get it! Conflicts are allowed up until two weeks before opening night. Here's what you need to know:

  • Bring your complete schedule to auditions and list every potential conflict on your audition form

  • Conflicts cannot be added after casting—directors build the entire rehearsal schedule around what you provide

  • Conflicts do factor into casting decisions, so thoroughness now helps everyone succeed

  • Adding conflicts after rehearsals begin may result in reduced performance opportunities or removal from the production

We're not trying to be strict—we're trying to be fair to the entire cast and create the best show possible. Accurate conflict reporting helps us plan effectively!

⸻
Tech Week:
Crunch Time!

Tech week is when everything comes together—lights, sound, costumes, sets, and full run-throughs. It's exhausting and exhilarating! Tech week typically runs Saturday through Wednesday before shows begin.

Required Attendance:

  • Saturday: 12:00pm-7:00pm

  • Sunday: 1:00pm-9:00pm

  • Monday-Wednesday: 4:30pm-9:30pm

This is when the magic happens, so full attendance is essential. Plan ahead!
